i have been out of prison since 11/08 and in all that time i have only been able to find one little four month job that ended 7/09.i have been to interviews and once they hear about my non-violent property crime from'98 i never hear from them again or when i follow up the job is no longer available.employment companies cant help because practically every employer wont touch an ex-con no matter what the crime was.they say it must be 10 yrs old(mine is),or that a person must be off parole for seven yrs before they will consider you.so this means i have to get by on foodstamps and since i cant pay my roommate rent i am going to be living in the streets soon.i dont feel that our leaders are doing enough to stop the discrimination of employers and at least let ex-cons collect some kind of monetary help until we can land a job to keep us from being tossed into the streets or give up all together and revert to old ways of survival.
